Calculating your numbers

Life Path Number

This is often described as describing the road which to follow in your life.  Whilst it’s possible for you to change your name, or start using a different name (and see later chapters on this), the fact is that your date of birth is specific and undeniable.  It’s why it works for Astrology, although that specialism does tend to group people around months, rather than being more specific to your particular day.  Many people like to read their Life Path Number in conjunction with their star sign for this very reason.I

Your Life Path Number helps you understand where perhaps you should start looking at your inherent talent and abilities, and thus help guide you with things like vocations and professions.  It’s part of your overall numerological profile and can play a strong part in understanding yourself better.

Determining your Life Path Number

How to calculate your life path number:

  1. Start with your full date of birth: e.g. December 11, 1966
  2. Reduce your date of birth to a single digit by totaling them up:
    1. December is month 12, so 1+2 = 3
    1. The day is 11, so 1+1 = 2 *This needs to be broken down to a single digit. So, for example if the day of birth is 19, add 1+9=10, then 1+0=1
    1. The year of 1966 will be added: 1+9+6+6=22, then 2+2=4
    1. The end result is 3+2+4=9
  3. The Life Path number in this example therefore is 9.

Destiny Number

Your name clearly has meaning, that’s why it was given to you.  From its analysis, you can start to understand the kind of things which will bring you success in this life.  It can help direct you to the best way to live a fulfilled life, hence the name…Destiny.

You can think of it as your mission, your destined direction, and what your opportunities will be for fulfilling this. It’s the second key number and works very closely with the Life Path Number.

Determining YourDestiny Number

Your destiny number is determined from the numerical value of your given birth name, broken down by letter.

Use this chart to find which number corresponds to each letter:

For example, the name Sylvia Jo Russ would be calculated like this:

Sylvia = 1+7+3+7+9+1 = 28, then 2+8=10, and 1+0=1

Jo = 1+6=7

Russ = 9+3+1+1=14, 1+4=5

Finally, 1+7+5=13, 1+3=4, making Sylvia’s Destiny Number 4

*The only time you do not reduce the Destiny number to a single digit is if the sum total is 11, 22, or 33, which are referred to as Master Numbers (more on that later in this book)

Soul Number

Your Soul number is at the center of the five main Numerology values for a reason.  And that’s because it’s essentially your heart’s desire.  You need to figure this out in order to lead a fulfilled life because that’s how you advance the soul.

Often you will work out your Soul Number and quickly realize that this is indeed your heart’s desire.  That’s fine, most people know deep down what they really want already, but it’s helpful to get confirmation.

Determining your Soul Number

This number is calculated by again using your birth given name, and calculating only the numerical values of the vowels.

Vowel Number Values also come from the same chart as above…

Once again, for example, the name Sylvia Jo Russ would be calculated like this:

Sylvia = 7+9+1=17, 1+7=8 (In numerology the “y” is used as a vowel)

Jo = 6

Russ = 3

8+6+3=17, then 1+7=8, making Sylvia’s Soul Number 8

Personality Number

Your Personality Number can help you with the way others can see you.  It’s often described as the way people feel about you after they have met you for properly for the first time.  That doesn’t necessarily mean that what they see in you is the whole and real you, but it does help you understand the perception that others have of you.

It can also help you shape how others see you and what they think of you too.

Determining Your Personality Number

This uses the consonants of your birth given name

Once again, you can use the above chart to find which number corresponds to each letter:

And here again, for example, the name Sylvia Jo Russ would be calculated like this:

Sylvia = 1+3+4=8 (In Sylvia’s name the “y” is used as a vowel)

Jo = 1

Russ = 9+1+1=11 (Master number, so it isn’t reduced)

Personality number = 8+1+11=20, then 2+0=2

Making Sylvia’s Personality Number 2

Maturity Number

The Maturity Number goes by a few pseudonyms. Sometimes called the ‘True Self Number’ or the ‘Reality Number’, this reflects the fact that it is a combination of the effect of both your date of birth and your name numbers.  It helps you understand who your true self really is.

Because life is a journey and we tend to start considering the impact of our true self and start to examine the reason for our place on earth, this number tends to give more insight on what you can expect in the latter half of your life as your Mature Self.

Determining Your Maturity Number

To find your Maturity number, total your Life Path Number with Your Destiny number and reduce to a single digit.

In the example for Sylvia it would be 9+4=13, 1+3=4
